New Build Properties
You may have been told that you can't board your new build loft without voiding the valuable warranty that came with it.
In new build lofts, insulation is getting thicker. You can't just simply screw boards down to the existing joists. Squashing insulation this way can cause issues such as condensation and damp. It also stops the insulation working as it is intended, meaning the heat in your home will be escaping through the loft space.
To overcome this problem in new build homes we create a raised storage area. It is made of metal cross beams and plastic supports making a strong and durable storage area. It has been tested and approved by the BBA and can be used without affecting your homes warranty.
This is the only approved method to boarding a loft and to keep your warranty.
Your new loft floor will be higher than insulation, cables and pipework.
The board we use when making our storage area's are durable, high-density moisture-resistant P5 grade chipboard flooring. They are tongue and groove design. This board can be used in domestic and new build properties.
Loft Boarding is priced at per m2.
If you live in an older property (pre 1980) your home will likely be a "cut roof" meaning its been constructed using timber purlins and hangers.
We have different methods of boarding these types of lofts. Your loft may be suitable for a timber subframe, some properties with weaker ceilings need a floating floor which means no weight is added to the existing ceiling.
